Diesel up almost 3 cents on island, gas down a fraction of a penny in latest PUB setting | CBC News

The price of gasoline and other fuels dropped Thursday, as part of the Public Utilities Board’s latest weekly price adjustment, but diesel operators are paying more. 

Gas decreased by 0.6 cents per litre, putting the price per litre on the Avalon at $1.173 per litre.

Prices across the rest of Newfoundland vary between $1.71 and $1.88 per litre, and between $1.69 and $2.25 per litre across Labrador.

The price of diesel increased by 2.9 cents in Newfoundland, but decreased by 0.9 cents per litre in Labrador West and Churchill Falls. Prices for diesel now range between $2.01 and $2.16 per litre in Newfoundland and between $1.95 and $2.39 per litre in Labrador.

Gas prices had dropped almost 10 cents over the weekend through an unscheduled setting, as the PUB reacted to the latest swing in commodity markets. 

Meanwhile, both furnace oil and stove oil dropped Thursday.

Furnace oil is down by 2.1 cents per litre across Newfoundland and Labrador. Stove oil dropped 0.71 cents per litre in Newfoundland and 0.85 cents per litre in Labrador West and Churchill Falls.

Newfoundland customers will now pay between $1.32 and $1.50 per litre for stove oil depending on their location, while stove oil was cost between $1.40 and $1.58 per litre in Newfoundland and between $1.40 and $1.85 per litre across Labrador.

Propane increased by 0.9 cents per litre, putting prices between 97 cents and $1.10 per litre in Newfoundland, and between 83 cents and $1.28 per litre in Labrador.
