NPFL: Heartland End Barren Run, Shooting Stars Claim Derby Spoils

Heartland recorded their first win in the Nigeria Premier Football League this season courtesy of a 1-0 victory against Bendel Insurance in Owerri.

Austin Osayande scored the decisive goal in the 51st minute.

The five-time champions have now won one, drawn one and lost one in three games under new head coach, Kennedy Boboye.

Moses Omoduemuke scored the winning goal 18 minutes from time as Shooting Stars claimed a 1-0 victory against Sunshine Stars in Ibadan.

In Ilorin, Doma United extended their unbeaten streak to eight games after they held their hosts Kwara United to a 0-0 draw.

Niger Tornadoes were also held to a 0-0 draw by Remo Stars.

At the Lafia City Stadium, Lobi Stars defeated Gombe United 1-0.

Chinedu Chukwu netted the winner on 25 minutes.

Kano Pillars defeated Akwa United 1-0 at the Sani Abacha Stadium courtesy of Mustapha Umar’s sixth minute strike.

In Umuahia, Abia Warriors held Sporting Lagos to a 1-1 draw.

Naibe Akpesiri gave Sporting Lagos the lead on 19 minutes, while Pascal Nwabueze equalised for the hosts six minutes from time.

Elsewhere, Plateau United defeated Rangers 2-1 in Jos.

The hosts took the lead through Moses Vincent on three minutes, while Chidiebere Nwobodo equalised for Rangers in the 16th minute.

Olawale Doyeni scored the winning goal for Plateau United in stoppage time.
