F3 driver, Oliver Goethe has joined Red Bull’s Junior Team for the 2024 season.
Goethe finished eighth in his rookie season in F3 during which he claimed victory at Silvestone in the Feature Race, having earlier finished second in the Bahrain Feature Race in a positive campaign for the 19 year-old Danish-German.
A positive finish to the campaign saw Goethe claim top-five finishes in four of the final six races that he started, despite a mechanical issue preventing him from starting the Italian Feature Race where he was meant to start from pole position.
His performances and mature development persuaded Red Bull to swoop for Goethe, who is set to stay in F3 next season alongside fellow Junior Team member – Arvid Lindbald who is graduating into the series from Italian F4 with PREMA.
Speaking about his decision to become part of Red Bull’s Junior Team, Goethe said: “I am proud and excited to join the Red Bull Junior team. They are a force to be reckoned with, breaking record after record.”
The 19 year-old also reflected on visiting Red Bull’s F1 factory in Milton Keynes, UK, with the team having previously taken Germany’s Sebastian Vettel to four titles as he explained: “It hit me when I visited Milton Keynes and was faced with the wall of trophies from the floor to the ceiling.
“I realised then that I am about to become part of something very special.
“I grew up watching Sebastian Vettel winning races and championships in the Red Bull car, and as a German driver, I am proud to follow in his footsteps.”
Goethe also iterated that this opportunity will provide him with new opportunities to break through into F1, having recently seen Liam Lawson achieve that ambition – albeit as a temporary replacement driver due to injury for Daniel Ricciardo at AlphaTauri.
“Being part of an F1 team can provide me with priceless opportunities and open the door to the dream I’ve been working towards and there’s no better team to do it with.”
Goethe’s first race as a member of Red Bull comes with Campos at Macau’s F3 race this weekend from 17-19 November, with the Spanish team having unveiled a Red Bull livery for the event.
