Building a car takes time. Building a traditional hot rod takes even longer. Finding parts, fabricating pieces, and dialing it all in can’t be rushed. It’s an art. It’s a science. And when it comes to documenting that process, the guys at Iron Trap Garage do it in style.
Through the years, Matt Murray has accumulated some excellent cars. Hot rods, customs, racecars—you name it. Out of the stack, I have a hands-down favorite: the Larry Schroll ’32.
Originally hot rodded in Maryland in the 1950s, the car has all the right East Coast elements, including a heavy channel, no chop, healthy Olds, and weathered green paint. Over the past two years, I’ve enjoyed watching its transformation from a battered and bruised barn(ish)-find to a running, driving machine.
On the last day of 2023, the Iron Trap team posted a video of the car’s saga. They took all 46 installments and boiled them down to one half-hour episode. After a long week at work, it was nice to sit back and watch the car come back to life in record time. If you have a moment this weekend, make sure to check it out.
