A 77-year-old man is dead after being hit by a driver while crossing Fennell Avenue East on the Hamilton Mountain.

The victim was hit while crossing Fennell Avenue on Tuesday and died in hospital Wednesday, according to HPS

A 77-year-old man is dead after being hit by a driver while crossing Fennell Avenue East on the Hamilton Mountain, police say.

The pedestrian was crossing Fennell west of Upper Wellington Street around 10:20 a.m. Tuesday when a 91-year-old man driving an SUV struck him. 

The victim was taken to hospital with injuries police described Tuesday as “life-threatening.” On Wednesday, they said the man had “succumbed to his injuries.”

The SUV driver was not injured.

Police closed part of Fennell for several hours Tuesday while police, including the collision reconstruction unit, investigated. They say the collision remains under investigation.
