A pedestrian has been killed on Clarke Road early Tuesday in a collision involving multiple vehicles.

Police said it happened around 5:50 a.m. when they received a call to attend just north of Dundas Street for reports of a person being injured in a collision.

The pedestrian was found with critical injuries, but later died at the scene, police said.

Investigators closed the road for the morning commute with members of the Traffic Management Unit and the Forensic Identification Section working to understand what happened.

“It’s sad,” said neighbour Maryella Taylor. “I just see people crossing the road all the time. And a few years ago we actually had it happen where a gentleman crossed the road to go to the store and he got hit pretty bad and he survived.”

“Unfortunately, this morning this is a sad situation, and it’s going to happen again because they’re constantly crossing the road,” Taylor said.

Police have asked the public to avoid the area of Clarke Road between Dundas Street and Parkhurst Avenue while their investigation continues.
