Polestar 3 production begins – The Torque Report
[ad_1]
Polestar’s next EV is almost here, since it has announced that production of the Polestar 3 electric SUV has begun in Chengdu, China. Production is slated to start in the US, in South Carolina, in the middle of 2024.
This means that the Polestar 3 will be the first Polestar to be produced on two continents.
The Polestar 3 is based on Volvo’s SPA2 platform, which is also being used for the Volvo EX90 SUV. It’s powered by a dual motor powertrain with 489 horsepower and 620 pound-feet of torque, which gives it from 0-60 mph time of 4.9 seconds. The $6,000 Performance Pack ups boosts those ratings to 517 hp and 671 lb-ft, and also reduces the 0-60 time by 0.3 seconds. The standard version is expected to have a 300 mile EPA range, which is reduced to 270 miles with the Performance Package.
Polestar is already taking orders for the Polestar 3, which starts at $85,300.
