A breakout season continued for Scottie Barnes on Monday when he set a Toronto Raptors franchise record with his fourth triple-double of the season in a game against the Indiana Pacers.
Barnes finished with 21 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists to go along with five blocks in a 130-122 win.
The third-year NBAer now has five in his career, tying current Pacer Pascal Siakam for second on the Raptors’ all-time list. Kyle Lowry leads the way with 16.
Barnes joins an exclusive club for players with four or more triple-doubles this season, along with Domantas Sabonis of the Sacramento Kings (20), Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets (18), Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks (10) and Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks (seven).
Barnes, who went to his first All-Star Game as an injury replacement earlier this month in the same building in Indianapolis, completed the triple-double with less than six minutes left in the fourth quarter when he recorded his 10th rebound.
The NBA rookie of the year in 2021-22, Barnes had a bit of a disappointing sophomore season before bouncing back this season.
The Raptors made it clear Barnes was their franchise player when they traded Siakam and O.G. Anunoby in separate deals earlier this season.
