La Máquina de Cruz Azul is going through one of the worst moments in the MX League in recent years, being in the last position with a total of zero points and in addition to having been eliminated in the group stage of the Leagues Cup; These events led to the dismissal of Ricardo ‘Tuca’ Ferretti as technical director of the squad and now they are looking for a new strategist with whom they can achieve a change in their results for the Apertura 2023 tournament.
In the midst of the crisis that the cement group is going through, the Mexican soccer coach and former Cruz Azul coach before being replaced by Ferretti, Raúl ‘Potro’ Gutiérrez, offered an interview to Claro Sports in which he spoke about his experience within the club and what it means to lead a team with as much history as La Noria.
“I am very grateful for that opportunity, when it comes, I was about to sign with a team from El Salvador and I couldn’t leave. Everyone has to aspire to be in a big team, I’m calm, but I lacked time. We had a bump, but the team was going to solve it. It was a positive outlook, but it didn’t go well for us in that start. I am left with that verification that we have a good methodology and that our management was always good, I ended up very well with the staff and players. If the door of Cruz Azul opens again, I am there, for sure, ”he said.
“It’s always going to be sad when a coach is fired, but it’s part of the job, you adapt. The start that the team had and what happened in the Leagues Cup ended up weighing in making that decision. There are many factors to which it can be attributed. I think the issue always goes through the results. A coach has to be prepared. Obviously when you join a big team like Cruz Azul everything works against you when the results are not given, a big team requires results that have to be shown, ”he highlighted.
The coach stressed that mistakes are part of all members of the institution, including the board, so it is important that each person provides the best possible to be able to function without any type of problem.
“I believe that when the projects work and become successful, it is part of everyone, everyone has their bit so that the project develops well. When things don’t go well, criticism of the coach, players and project usually comes. These things come together and that is why the matter is not working out”, concluded the strategist.
