Police have arrested and charged a woman from Windermere, Florida, after she led police on a high-speed chase, reaching speeds of over 145 mph (233 km/h). The pursuit came to an abrupt end when a pursuing officer executed a PIT maneuver on the BMW she was driving.
The incident unfolded around 2:20 a.m. on the morning of December 21 when Florida Highway Patrol troopers spotted the silver BMW traveling at speeds exceeding 145 mph on Interstate 75 in Lee County. They promptly initiated a pursuit, following the driver as she continued along the highway. Eventually, she exited and headed east on State Road 82.

The driver then proceeded to speed along Colonial Boulevard, hitting speeds of more than 120 mph (193 km/h). Dashcam footage captured from the pursuing police vehicle revealed her erratic driving and apparent struggle to maintain control of the car. As the trooper witnessed the driver weaving along a straight section of the road, they executed a maneuver, striking the rear quarter of what appears to be an E93 3-Series Convertible. While not a flawless PIT maneuver, it successfully spun the car around, rendering it inoperable.
Bizarrely, the female driver didn’t surrender even after her car was spun around. Instead, she made an attempt to flee on foot, but law enforcement officers chased her down and promptly apprehended her. She now faces charges of DUI, fleeing and eluding law enforcement, resisting without violence, and reckless driving.
According to Fort Myers News-Press, the 21-year-old woman, Cecilia Elise Hoffman, appeared in court on December 22 and had her bond set at $20,000. Her next court appearance is scheduled for January 22 for her arraignment.
