For the first 29 minutes of Thursday’s Red Wings game against the Sharks, things were pretty quiet.
Sure Patrick Kane had some chances in his Winged Wheel debut, but both goalies stood tall and the game remained scoreless.
That all changed when Klim Kostin got the Red Wings on the board, which opened the floodgates for a wild end to the period.
Once the dust had settled, the Red WIngs had both taken a 4-0 lead and blown a 4-0 lead in the period and the two teams headed to the intermission tied 4-4.
That included a stretch of 3:01 in which the two teams combined for six goals, which is one second slower than the NHL record.
Hockey fans watching at home were stunned and quickly took to social media to express their excitement.
