Police arrest two men after people injured in assault in town centre

Police were called to reports of an assault at Crompton Place in Bolton Town Centre.
Two people were injured during the incident and two people were arrested after the incident on November 2.
A police spokesman said: “At around 4pm on 2 November 2023, officers responded to reports of an assault in Crompton Place, Bolton.
“Two people suffered minor injuries during the incident.
“Two men were subsequently arrested on suspicion of assault. They have since been bailed pending further enquiries.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting log number 2215 of 02/11/23.”
One eyewitness said: “There was an altercation between the security guard and two shoplifters which turned into a large fight.
“This was on the day of the unveiling of the knife angel statue.”
It comes after the famous knife angel arrived in Bolton earlier this week.
The 27ft statue is made from 100,000 knives and is on display on Deansgate for 30 days.
Known officially as the National Monument Against Violence and Aggression, the sculpture was created by artist Alfie Bradley and is meant to act as a symbol of unity.
