Huge disruption on railway means trains to London will take more than two hours

On Sunday, October 8, the usual service between the two cities will be reduced to one direct train an hour, which will take two hours and nine minutes.
The trains will be diverted via Littlehampton and Horsham before rejoining the line at Three Bridges to head towards London Victoria.
Though journey planners suggest passengers can use rail replacement buses at Three Bridges, Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) the operator in charge of Southern and Thameslink services, has advised not to use this route due to a lack of drivers for the buses.
“Please do not attempt to change at Three Brides for a rail replacement bus,” a GTR spokesman said.
Preston Park, Hassocks, Burgess Hill, Wivelsfield, Haywards Heath, Balcombe will have no services all day on Sunday.
A limited half-hourly bus service will run between Three Bridges and Brighton.
⚠️This Sunday 8 October, major engineering work is taking place between Three Bridges and Brighton, closing all lines
🚌However, our rail replacement bus operators have been unable to provide the usual amount of drivers

The spokesman added: “Tickets marked ‘Thameslink only’ will be accepted on these Southern services for no extra cost.”
