Two 14-year-old boys arrested on suspicion of assaulting police officers

A police officer and a PCSO reported being assaulted while carrying out controls in Crowborough town centre to combat anti-social behaviour.
After being verbally abused by a group of young people in Pine Grove, two 14-year-old boys are said to have attacked officers.
One of the 14-year-old boys was arrested on suspicion of common assault of an emergency worker and obstructing police. A second 14-year-old boy was also arrested for common assault of an emergency worker and breach of the peace. Both remain in custody.
Sussex Police Chief Inspector Andy Nicklin said: “This recent anti-social behaviour in Crowborough is entirely unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

“We are taking proactive steps to address the issue, including increased high-visibility patrols in key areas and using the policing powers available to us, such as a dispersal order, to deter any further criminal behaviour.
“Our officers are dedicated to protecting the public in Crowborough and we will continue to work hard to tackle this anti-social behaviour and criminality.”
A dispersal order has been put in place in Crowborough town centre to combat anti-social behaviour allowing police to move on anyone committing anti-social behaviour.
The order will last until the weekend.
