During last night’s Strictly: It Takes Two, host Fleur East confirmed the Sherlock star had exited the show.
She read a statement that said: “Amanda Abbington is unable to continue in Strictly Come Dancing and has decided to withdraw from the competition.
“The show wishes her all the best for the future.”
A compilation of Amanda’s best moments on the dancing show was then played before singer Fleur added: “Amanda, we are sending you all of our love.”
Her exit comes after she was absent from Saturday’s live show at the weekend (October 21) due to “medical reasons.”
Viewers were told she wasn’t able to perform with her professional dancing partner Giovanni Pernice but would hopefully “return the following week” according to protocols of the show.
Amanda Abbington’s fiancé shares mysterious message prior to Strictly exit
Posting to Instagram to his 59.6k followers on Monday morning (October 23), retired stunt performer Jonathan shared a story as he posed in front of a mirror wearing a black cowl neck jumper and jeans.
In the caption, he wrote: “We can be so hard on ourselves…be our own worst critics… But before you judge yourself… make sure your mirror is clean.”
Further down the selfie, he added: “Make sure your mirror is clean.”
Amanda first connected with Jonathan on X, formerly known as Twitter back in 2012 and the couple got engaged on their first date in Vienna after “talking for a month”.
Jonathan told The Guardian: “By this time, I knew that I was going to ask her to marry me. I had been planning it already, even though we’d only been talking for a month.”
He added: “I cut the shape of the ring box out of the middle of a book of Shakespeare’s sonnets, so it fitted inside. Underneath the box it said: ‘Will you marry me?’”
Amanda said: “We realised we couldn’t be away from each other after that.”
In her last appearance on Strictly, Amanda scored 31 for a quick-footed foxtrot to Everywhere by Fleetwood Mac, with judge Mosti Mabuse saying she enjoyed that the couple took the time to show the “beauty of the movement”.
