San Rafael: Two dead after canal crash

Two people died Saturday morning after their car drove off a dead end street into the San Rafael Canal, according to authorities.
According to a witness, the vehicle drove into the canal at about 70 mph.
The San Rafael Fire Department and Southern Marin Fire Department Dive team were dispatched to recover the occupants of the vehicle, which was submerged. Both were deceased.
Police said alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, which occurred at about 7 a.m.
