Ottawa Senators forward Parker Kelly has been suspended for two games for an illegal check to the head on Los Angeles Kings defenceman Andreas Englund, the NHL’s Department of Player Safety announced Friday.

The incident occurred late in the third period of the Senators’ 4-3 overtime loss to the Kings on Thursday.

Kelly received a two-minute penalty while Englund also went to box for roughing.

Kelly will miss Ottawa’s game Saturday against the San Jose Sharks and Tuesday’s matchup against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The slumping Senators have lost their last six games and are last in the Atlantic Division with a 25-32-4 record.
