Shohei Ohtani wins second AL MVP Award ahead of pivotal free agency
[ad_1]
Two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani has won the American League MVP award for the second time in his career.
Ohtani led the AL in home runs with 44 and posted a 3.14 ERA in 132 innings as a starting pitcher this season before injuries to his elbow and oblique ended his season early.
The other finalists were Texas Rangers infield stars Corey Seager and Marcus Semien. Ohtani previously won the award in 2021.
Ohtani, 29, is a free agent this winter and is expected to sign one of the largest contracts in league history, despite the fact that he will not be able to pitch in 2024 due to his injuries.
