A weapons investigation at St. Mary’s High School in Kitchener, Ont., has led to the arrest of a youth off of school property.
St. Mary’s was placed in a hold and secure on Friday
Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) on Friday arrested a youth as part of a weapons investigation at St. Mary’s High School in Kitchener.
In a statement on social media, police said the boy was arrested off school property. They also located a handgun off school property.
St. Mary’s was placed in a hold and secure on Friday afternoon as a safety precaution.
During a hold and secure, the Waterloo Catholic District School Board says, “the school continues to function normally, with the exterior doors being locked until such time as the situation near the school is resolved.”
There was increased police presence in the area during the weapons investigation.
No injuries were reported and police say there are no more safety concerns.
No other information has been released at this point.
