Stolen Mazda Flips In Sydney Police Chase, Driver Makes Daring Escape | Carscoops

Police nabbed two passengers in the stolen vehicle but are still searching for the driver
Sydney, Australia’s western suburbs witnessed a dramatic hour-long police chase on Sunday night. A stolen car, reportedly a Mazda crossover, carrying three passengers, attempted to evade the police but came to a halt when the driver accidentally overturned the vehicle, striking both a curb and another car simultaneously. Surprisingly, the driver managed to escape while law enforcement apprehended the other two passengers.
Video of the end of the chase popped up online recently and it shows just how fast a pursuit can end. As a car with a dashcam comes up to an intersection, the fleeing vehicle approaches in the oncoming lane. It appears as though the suspect behind the wheel attempts to pass a car traveling in the same direction by going to the middle of the road. That’s when they seem to simultaneously hit both a curb in the road and the rear tire of the car they were attempting to avoid.
Instead of successfully navigating the intersection, the suspect’s vehicle is launched up and into the air. It deals a glancing blow to the dashcam vehicle and lands on its roof. Police are just yards behind the accident. How did the driver manage to escape? The video tells all.

One police officer nabs one passenger almost immediately. A second officer quickly grabs a second person as they attempt to jump a fence and get away. That’s when the driver appears to take the opportunity to slip out and away from the scene. Video shows them running in a third direction away from authorities.
One of the two in custody was a 35-year-old man who was initially treated by medics before going to jail. He had a court date on Monday facing charges of entering a vehicle without consent of the owner, being carried without the consent of an owner, and hindering or resisting a police officer. The second passenger, a 41-year-old woman, is facing the same charges but made bail and has a court date of December 19th.
Police say that they found a number of stolen items in the car. They’re still investigating the entire situation including where the driver is now and where the stolen goods belong.
