Israeli Missile Strike Kills 4 Near Damascus, Syria Says

[ad_1]

Syrian state media reported on Monday that an Israeli missile attack targeting the vicinity of Syria’s capital, Damascus, had killed four soldiers and wounded four others.

The report, which cited an unidentified military source, said the strike had occurred at about 2:20 a.m. and had come from the direction of the Golan Heights, which Israel captured from Syria in 1967 and later annexed.

Syrian air defenses shot some of the missiles down, according to the report, which said there had been some material damage.

Last month, Israeli forces attacked seven targets in Damascus, according to Israeli reports. They were said to include warehouses used by Hezbollah, the Lebanese armed group, which, along with Iran, has supported the government of President Bashar al-Assad in the Syrian civil war.

Israel has acknowledged hundreds of past attacks on Iran-linked targets in Syria.
