Tata Motors is often known for its build quality, and we have seen several examples that prove this. In many cases, people get involved in such accidents through no fault of their own. Here we have one such accident reported from NH44, where a Tata Harrier facelift SUV got crushed between a truck and another SUV on the highway. The occupants in the car escaped without any major injuries and later thanked the build quality. Here’s what happened.
The video has been shared by Prateek Singh on his YouTube channel. The video or the images used in this video have been shared by one of his followers online. The video mentions that the Tata Harrier, along with other SUVs, was traveling on the Bengaluru-Salem stretch of National Highway 44 when this accident happened. The exact cause of this accident is not mentioned here.
It is not clear whether the Kushaq driver in the front applied brakes suddenly or if the truck driver was overspeeding and crashed into these cars. Whatever the reason may be, the Tata Harrier facelift was caught between the Kushaq and the loaded truck. The front of the Harrier crashed into the rear of the Kushaq, and the truck rear-ended the Harrier.
The rear of the Harrier is completely damaged. The tailgate, rear windscreen, bumper, tail lamps, and connecting LED bars are all damaged. It was definitely a major accident, and it looks like the truck was unable to slow down before crashing into the Harrier. The front of the Harrier is also damaged. The bonnet, front grille, bumper, along with the headlamp, are all damaged. Surprisingly, the front windshield looks undamaged. As seen in the pictures, the airbags also opened on time. The A pillars on this SUV absorbed the impact pretty well and were not damaged at all. The rear, although damaged after the truck crashed into it, managed to hold the car together.
The occupants in the car were all safe and escaped without any major injuries. The rear of the Kushaq was also damaged; however, there are no images or videos of the same. Tata Harrier seen here in the video is the facelifted version launched in the market last year. Tata not only gave this car a major update in terms of looks but also features. It gets modern features like ADAS, a 360-degree camera, an illuminated Tata logo on their new twin-spoke steering wheel, leatherette upholstery, ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, and so on. The car also gets a fully digital instrument cluster and a new touchscreen infotainment system with a new user interface.
Tata Harrier is available with a diesel engine option only. The SUV is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine that generates 170 PS and 350 Nm of peak torque. This SUV is available with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission options. The pre-facelift version of the Harrier was never sent to Global NCAP crash test; however, the facelift version after the launch was sent to the Bharat NCAP crash test. Both Tata Harrier and Safari passed the test with 5 stars.
