Tata Punch EV: New spyshots reveal fresh details
[ad_1]
The micro-SUV Tata Punch is currently the most popular vehicle in its segment and soon will be receiving an electrified iteration of it. Over the last few months, the spottings of its test mule have become very frequent, and just a few days ago, another one was seen testing. The latest spy shots of the Tata Punch EV test mule reveal a few more key details about it. One of the biggest revelations made is that it will be getting a brand new connected LED DRL at the front.
Punch EV: Exterior design details
These new spy shots come courtesy of Carwale, and they show this SUV parked on the side of a highway. The first picture reveals that the front fascia of this SUV will be changed and will differ from the ICE model. It will now be getting a full-width connected LED DRL at the front. Additionally, it has also been reported that it will come equipped with its charger in the front bumper.
Moving on to the side profile of this Tata Punch EV test mule, it has been noted to come with new upgrades. The first of these upgrades will be a brand new design for the alloy wheels. Just like the entire body of this SUV, the wheels too were covered in camouflage. Additionally, it has also been reported that the ORVMs of this mule were equipped with cameras, which means that it will most likely get a 360-degree camera.
A shark fin antenna and rear disc brakes were also spotted on this test mule. As for the rear end of the Punch EV, not many details can be noted because of the presence of camouflage. However, reports have stated that it could come equipped with a connected LED taillight. A redesigned rear bumper is also expected with the new car.
Interior design
Moving on to the interior side of things, another spy shot shared by Team-BHP showed an interesting detail. The forthcoming Punch EV will come equipped with a new touchscreen infotainment system, which will be a floating 10.25-inch unit. Now, whether this new 10.25-inch display will be the one seen in the Creative variant of the Nexon facelift or the one with thinner bezels in the Fearless variant, will be revealed in the coming months. Apart from this, the overall layout should remain the same as the ICE model.
Other important details
Just a few months ago, Shailesh Chandra, MD of Tata Motors, hinted that the new Punch EV could be named something other than Punch EV. It was also noted that this new EV will come equipped with prismatic battery cells, which could help in improving the range. It will also get an upgraded and more efficient motor. Additionally, new tech features similar to what we have seen with the new Nexon EV facelift can also be expected.
At the moment, it is believed that most likely the company will be upgrading the Tata Tiago EV’s powertrain and offer it with the Punch EV. Currently, the company offers the Tiago EV with multiple battery packs that deliver different ranges. This EV hatchback comes equipped with a 24 kWh battery pack that delivers an MIDC-certified range of 315 km. And there is also a smaller 19.2 kWh battery pack available, which offers an MIDC-certified range of 250 km.
