Tata Motors is all set to unveil its brand-new electric vehicle, the Punch EV, tomorrow. Just before the official unveiling, images of the production version of the Punch EV have leaked online. Bookings for the electric micro SUV are also open. Tata is one of the most popular electric car manufacturers in the country and has several electric cars in its lineup. Tata has been working on the electric iteration of its popular micro SUV, the Punch, for some time now. The electric micro SUV will be officially unveiled tomorrow, but an image of the SUV has leaked online before that.
The images of the upcoming Punch EV have been shared by Cars24 News on their Instagram page. The leaked images show how the Punch EV would look from the front and also share the list of features it would offer. Just like Tata’s other electric vehicles, the Punch EV will also be offered in two variants. There will be a Standard Range or Medium Range (MR) variant and a Long Range (LR) variant. The Standard Range variant would get a smaller battery pack while the Long Range would offer more driving range.
The MR version would use a 25 kWh battery pack, which is expected to provide around 330 km range. The LR version will get a 35 kWh battery pack, offering around 460 km of range. The Tata Punch will be offered with a long list of features. As this is an all-electric vehicle, there is no engine under the bonnet. The space under the bonnet has been converted into a frunk where you can keep things. The touchscreen infotainment system in the Punch EV is different from the ICE version. It features the new floating-type 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Tata’s new UI.
The Tata Punch EV would also offer features like a 360-degree camera, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, multiple voice assistants, ventilated leatherette front seats, an inbuilt air purifier, an electric sunroof, multi-mode regen, a jeweled control knob for the LR version, a fully digital instrument cluster, a wireless phone charger, connected car features, and more.
When it comes to the design, the front of the Tata Punch EV gets a connecting LED bar that runs across the width of the vehicle. Just like the Nexon EV, this connecting LED bar is expected to offer the welcome function. The front bumper has been completely redesigned, and the front grille is closed as it is an EV. The headlamp design on this micro SUV is different from the ICE version; it now looks a lot sleeker. The charging port of this SUV is hidden behind the Tata logo. The Punch EV comes with LED headlamps as standard. Except for the entry-level version, all other variants get fog lamps with a cornering function too.
The higher versions also get 16-inch alloy wheels. The leaked image does not show the rear of the car; however, we expect the styling to remain more or less the same as the ICE version with minor EV-specific changes. Like the Harrier and Nexon, the all-new Punch EV will also be available in 5 personas: Smart, Smart+, Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered+. The Tata Punch EV does support DC fast charging and will be available with 3.3 kW wall box charger and 7.2 kW fast home charger options.
