The options on the test SUV are: the pearl coat exterior paint for $495, the customer preferred package for $2,380, the luxury tech group for $420, the high performance audio system for $2,020 and the front passenger interactive display for $1,095. The manufactures suggested retail price (MSRP), including the $1,795 destination charge, minus the electronic limited slip differential credit of $400, came to: $73,515.
After adding in the state and local sales tax, plus the DMV and dealer fees, the out the door and in your garage total purchase price came to: $82,705. At just under $83 Grand this Jeep Grand Cherokee has all the right options to be in the luxury SUV class, and then some. The Summit Edition is at the top of the trim range, the option list includes everything you could ask for and the interior fit and finish are first class by all standards.
Power comes from a 3.6L (liter) V/6 24 valve gas engine with 293 HP and 260 lb.ft. of torque, bolted to an 8 speed automatic transmission, then routed into a Quadra-Trac II 4 wheel drive (4WD) traction control system, with Terrain Select at the push of a button.
The award winning Quadra-Trac II 4×4 system works in part with the brake locking differential and the four wheel brake traction control systems. Features include a 2 speed transfer case that in low mode locks the front and rear drive shafts for low speed power, rock crawling and towing. You can also dial in auto, sport, snow, sand and mud modes.
Jeep excels in safety and functional equipment with a list of over 25 items and it starts with: a hand free open and close power rear tailgate, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, traffic sign recognition, active lane management, full speed forward collision warning plus, a surround view camera system, parking assist with auto stop, blind spot cross path detection, side distance warning, active driving assist, pedestrian and cyclist emergency braking, intersection collision assist, drowsy driver detection, an auto dimming rear view mirror, hill start assist, full air suspension and a rear seat object alert; just to name a few.
Interior features include: Gorgeous full Nappa leather seating with double cross stitched quilted door panels and seats, with smooth wood grained dashboard trim, ventilated and heated power front seats, heated second row seats, a heated steering wheel, a drivers seat with back massager and memory, 2nd and 3rd row power folding seats, a McIntosh high performance audio system with 19 speakers and a 950 watt powered amplifier, head up display, a 10.1″ digital display center stack touch screen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and a 4G Wi-Fi hot spot, night vision with pedestrian and animal detection, an auto dimming digital display rear view mirror and a rear facing interior view camera.
