SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Saturday saw some recording breaking minimum low temperatures for a few Southern California areas, including a spot in San Diego County.
According to data collected by the National Weather Service, Borrego Springs hit the lowest temperature in 14 years for the spring morning of April 6. The area hit 40 degrees, which is a single degree less than that same day in 2010.
In a rare show of white for the area, higher parts of the Anza-Borrego Desert even received a dusting of snow Saturday morning. The photo seen below was taken in front of the state park sign:
Two other Southern California areas that saw record-breaking minimums on April 6 included Anaheim at 43 degrees (2 degrees less than 2003) and Big Bear at a freezing 11 degrees (5 degrees less than 2006).
As for the county’s Borrego Springs region, expected high temperatures for Sunday should thaw out the Anza-Borrego Desert and surrounding area. The weather service predicts temperatures reaching upwards to 77 degrees for the day.
