Toyota Kluger recalled

[ad_1]

Toyota Australia is recalling approximately 630 examples of the Kluger SUV due to an issue with the spiral cable assembly in the steering column that may cause the driver’s airbag to not deploy in a crash.

This recall affects both Kluger petrol and hybrid variants produced between March and July 2023.

“For involved vehicles, the spiral cable assembly in the steering column may lose its electrical connection on the circuit controlling the driver’s airbag,” said the company in its recall notice.

“If this occurs, the airbag warning light will illuminate, and the driver’s airbag may not deploy in a crash.

“As a result, the vehicle will not comply with certain local safety requirements and may increase the risk of injury to the driver in the event of a crash.”

Out of the approximately 630 affected vehicles, 300 have been delivered to customers. The remainder will be rectified prior to delivery.

If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to book in a time at a Toyota dealer to have the serial number of the spiral cable inspected and, if necessary, have the spiral cable assembly replaced, free of charge.

Toyota claims the inspection of the cable will take approximately 30 minutes, and if required, replacing the cable will take approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes. This depends on the dealer’s work schedule.
