Traffic stop leads to illegal gun, DWI arrest in Watervliet

WATERVLIET, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A Watervliet man was arrested earlier in March after being pulled over and was found with a loaded handgun. Michael Herb, 25, faces multiple charges.
On Thursday, March 14, Watervliet Police pulled a car over with a cracked windshield and an altered inspection sticker. Police identified Herb as the driver.
Police say Herb was driving with a blood alcohol concentration two and a half times the legal limit, and say they found a loaded handgun inside the car. Police say he has a prior weapons and DWI conviction.
Charges:
- Second-degree criminal possession of a weapon
- Aggravated driving while intoxicated
- Driving while intoxicated
- First-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle
- Circumventing the ignition interlock device
- Vehicle and traffic law violations
Herb was arraigned in Watervliet City Court. He was remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility.
