PAOK , the Greek Super League club, has reached an agreement with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) delay the arrival of William Troost-Ekong to the Super Eagles camp for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The defender was originally set to join the national team in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
The NFF has granted permission to PAOK to include Troost-Ekong in a league game against OFI scheduled for Tuesday, delaying his reporting for international duty to Wednesday.
This arrangement allows the center-back to fulfill his club commitments before joining the Super Eagles in their AFCON preparations.
In a similar context, the NFF has also acceded to requests from Omonia Nicosia and AC Milan regarding Francis Uzoho and Samuel Chukwueze, respectively.

Both players have been given permission to join the national team on Wednesday, accommodating their participation in league and Coppa Italia games for their respective clubs.
The Super Eagles will commence their pre-tournament camp in Abu Dhabi, spending one week in preparation before departing for Cote d’Ivoire on Wednesday, January 10.
This flexibility in player arrivals demonstrates a collaborative approach between national football associations and clubs to balance international and club commitments.
