Tata recently launched the updated Nexon along with its electric variant. The brand is also planning to introduce several other updated vehicles, including the Punch EV, which is expected to be released by the end of this year. The upcoming electric vehicle has been spotted once again, providing a clear view of its side and rear.
The Tata Punch EV showcases caught by ZigWheels slight design changes compared to the current petrol-powered model. It now comes with a redesigned grille, modified bumpers with redesigned headlight housing, and other EV-specific elements like a full-width light bar. Additionally, it features new alloy wheels and rear disc brakes, as previously seen in spy images.

At the rear, it might feature a new set of connected LED tail lamps. The test mule still has an exhaust pipe, but this is merely a dummy feature as the current Punch model hides its tailpipe design under the rear bumper. These design revisions in the Punch EV offer a preview of the upcoming facelift for the ICE version of the Punch.
What will the cabin get?
The higher end variants might get the 12.3-inch infotainment screen from the Nexon EV. But an earlier spy picture has revealed that Tata Motors will continue with the 7.0-inch screen. However, Tata may add the new features from Nexon EV. But it remains highly unlikely as Tata may want to keep the Punch EV and Nexon EV separate for different consumers.
While specific details about the powertrain of the upcoming Tata Punch EV are not currently available, it is anticipated that the vehicle will feature Tata’s Ziptron technology, similar to the Tata Tiago EV and Nexon EV. The Ziptron technology provides various battery pack options, each offering different ranges. However, the Punch EV is based on the ALFA platform, which has “Born Electric” capabilities. It will be the first true Born Electric car from Tata Motors.
The recently introduced Tiago EV, for instance, comes with a 24 kWh battery pack that achieves an MIDC-certified range of 315 km, while a smaller 19.2 kWh battery pack offers a range of 250 km. It is probable that the Tata Punch EV will maintain similar range figures.
More EVs coming soon
Tata thoroughly updated the Nexon, Nexon EV, Harrier and Safari. Now, the brand will bring in a lot of new models to the Indian market apart from the upcoming Punch EV.
The Altroz EV, which was first revealed at Auto Expo 2023, has been confirmed to be released in the first quarter of 2024. This electric vehicle will have distinctive blue highlights and will share its platform with the traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) version of the Altroz. The powertrain options may include components from the Punch EV lineup, such as the Tiago EV’s 24 kWh battery pack or the Nexon EV Medium Range’s 30.2 kWh battery pack.
Tata Motors will also introduce the Harrier EV, which takes inspiration from the concept showcased at Auto Expo 2023. This electric SUV may feature a closed front grille and a connected LED daytime running light (DRL) similar to the new Nexon EV. Although detailed technical specifications were not revealed at the Auto Expo, it is expected that the electric SUV will have a battery pack capacity of 60-65 kWh, providing a range of 450-500 km.
