Carlee Russell timeline:Everything that happened from her disappearance to admitting it was hoax
Police previously said Carlethia “Carlee” Nichole Russell admitted that she was never abducted in the 49 hours she was missing. Hoover Police Chief Nick Derzis said the department received a letter from Russell’s attorney saying that she was never taken and that her report of a missing child on an interstate highway was false.
Russell returned home on foot July 15 after she was initially reported missing off a highway in a Birmingham suburb July 13. Prior to her disappearance, Russell called 911 to report a toddler walking along the interstate.
Russell is not currently in custody, and Derzis previously told reporters that prosecutors will decide whether she will face any criminal charges.
