Spending yet another day at his Delaware beach community, President Biden said Sunday that he was “not on vacation.”
The president told reporters that he was staying at his home in Rehoboth Beach because the Secret Service is working on his Wilmington home to “make it secure.”
“I’m here for the day because I can’t go home,” Mr. Biden said. “I am not homeless.”
Mr. Biden spent a week in August on vacation at Lake Tahoe, Nevada – with a one-day trip to Hawaii to view devastation from wildfires. He had been criticized earlier for telling reporters “no comment” about the deadly wildfires while on another vacation at Rehoboth Beach.
On Saturday, Mr. Biden flew to Florida to inspect damage from Hurricane Idalia.
As of last Sunday, Mr. Biden has spent all or part of 382 of his presidency’s 957 days – or 40% — on personal overnight trips away from the White House, The New York Post reported.
It puts him on pace to become the nation’s “most idle commander-in-chief,” according to data calculated by the Republican National Committee and confirmed by The Post.
