D.C. police said they arrested two teenage boys Friday and charged them with armed carjacking shortly after they stole a victim’s vehicle at gunpoint in Northeast.

Metropolitan Police said a 14-year-old boy from Southeast and a 15-year-old boy from Capitol Heights carjacked a driver in the 1200 block of 42nd Street NE  just before 11:30 p.m.

Police arrested both teens soon after they commandeered the vehicle and recovered the stolen car.

The teens’ quick arrest was due to the Metropolitan Police Department’s initiative targeting robberies and carjackings in specific areas around the city, police said.
