Arsenal remain interested in Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz ahead of the summer transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
The Gunners have had numerous bids for the Brazil international, 25, rejected in recent windows.
Mohammed Elneny is expected to depart the club this summer, potentially making room in Arteta’s squad for another big-money midfield signing following the arrival of Declan Rice last year (2023).
Meanwhile, Jorginho and Thomas Partey have uncertain futures at Arsenal with their contracts set to expire in 2024 and 2025 respectively.
It is believed Barcelona are also keen on Aston Villa star Luiz, who is out of contract at the Midlands club in June 2026.
Arsenal could revive Luiz swoop with Elneny set to quit this summer
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Arsenal’s interest “hasn’t gone away” with further reinforcements needed to make Mikel Arteta’s side a force in European football.
Arsenal could now act on their long-term interest in Luiz if they are to lose multiple midfielders in the off-season.
The Brazil international has made 46 appearances across all competitions this term, notching 10 goals and 10 assists.
He has started in 40 of those outings.
Arsenal sit second in the Premier League behind leaders Man City after losing 2-0 against Aston Villa on Sunday (14 April) – while Unai Emery’s side are fourth and closing in on Champions League qualification.
