Arsenal ratings v Bayern Munich – 8/10 stuns, 2/10 shocking as stats emerge – Footymercato.com

Arsenal came from behind to secure a 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday night (9 April).
Bukayo Saka gave Gunners fans an early hope of a win with his exceptional curled opener in the 12th minute.
However, former Arsenal man Serge Gnabry and ex-Tottenham star Harry Kane both returned to haunt them with first-half goals to put them ahead.
However, substitute Leandro Trossard then bagged an excellent goal in the 76th minute to give Mikel Arteta’s side a huge chance to reach the semi-finals.
Football Insider has analysed the performances of Arsenal’s starting line-up in their European clash.
David Raya [6]
Could do little to prevent Kane’s clinical penalty and was not at fault for their equaliser. Collected the ball calmly under pressure and managed 84 per cent pass accuracy. Decent.
Ben White [6]
Had a golden chance to double Arsenal’s lead in the opening 15 minutes and then did not do enough for Gnabry’s equaliser in the 18th, but made up for it with a crucial tackle on Sane in the first half. His distribution and defensive contributions were good having 82 per cent pass accuracy and one assist, but he struggled in key moments.
William Saliba [3]
Could not handle the pace and trickery of former Man City star Sane and gave away a penalty to give Thomas Tuchel’s side the lead in the 32nd minute. His attempts to carry the ball forward proved fruitless too and he lost possession 13 times and committed four fouls. Bad.
Gabriel Magalhaes [7]
Helped to keep Kane at bay for the majority of the game and kept track of the ball during Munich’s frequent potentially defence-splitting passes. With 96 per cent pass accuracy, one clearance and one tackle, he was the backline’s standout.
Jakub Kiwior [3]
The defender’s failure to control the ball before Munich’s leveller proved very costly and was his most impactful moment of the game. Was unsurprisingly hauled off by Arteta at half time having made just 18 passes, 27 touches and losing possession five times. Poor.
Martin Odegaard [8]
Did not show his typically mercurial self in the opening 45, but put in an aggressive performance and tried to unlock the Munich defence. Made important tackles and multiple lovely passes, and with 85 touches, four successful ground duels and five key passes, he was the standout among a weak bunch.
Jorginho [3]
The Italian couldn’t muster anything of note and was taken off in the 67th minute after his unimpactful outing. Offered nothing creatively having managed no key passes and also lost possession seven times. No shock that Arteta hauled him off.
Declan Rice [5]
Another disappointing display. Rice has perhaps been the Gunners’ most important player this season but none of his typical quality was seen by the home fans. With just one key pass, only 51 touches and one accurate cross, this was far from his best day.
Bukayo Saka [7]
Took his opening curled strike like a seasoned veteran and did well all night against the typically excellent Alphonso Davies. However, he did not have much of an impact afterwards, making just one key pass, having two shots and losing possession 16 times. Could have snatched a stoppage-time winner, but chose to seek a penalty instead.
Kai Havertz [3]
The German has been in red-hot form in recent weeks, but it was not on show at the Emirates. He managed just 24 touches and 17 passes and was constantly nullified by Munich’s aggressive backline. Weak link.
Gabriel Martinelli [2]
May as well have stayed on the bench. His normally impactful dribbles from the wing were quickly stopped by Munich’s steadfast backline and he only managed 13 passes, one key pass, one successful dribble and one successful ground duel out of six attempted, meaning he failed 84 per cent of the time. A dreadful display.
