Arsenal and Chelsea are both interested in signing Sporting Lisbon forward Viktor Gyokeres this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Both Premier League clubs are looking to sign a star striker over the summer window and have made the 25-year-old a target.
It is understood that the highly-rated Sweden international will be available for £85million due to a release clause in his contract.
Gyokeres has been a standout performer in Portugal this season with 33 goals and 13 assists for Ruben Amorim’s side in 2023-24.
One senior source has told Football Insider that his “transformation has been phenomenal” over the last 18 months, during which time his valuation has rocketed.
Will Arsenal or Chelsea win the race to sign Sporting star Gyokeres?
Gyokeres only joined Sporting last summer after a very successful stint with Coventry in the Championship where he was considered one of the best players in the division.
He scored 43 goals in 116 appearances for the Sky Blues before sealing an £18million move to Sporting.
Several clubs around Europe are now interested in signing Gyokeres this summer with Arsenal and Chelsea among his biggest admirers.
The Blues were heavily linked with a move for Gyokeres in the January transfer window, but Chelsea were unable to fund a big-money move over the winter.
As revealed by Football Insider, Gyokeres features on a shortlist of four striker targets at Chelsea that also includes Brighton’s Evan Ferguson.
