Dodge Revealed Its First Electric Muscle Car
Dodge has unveiled its groundbreaking electric muscle car, the 2024 Charger Daytona, in two versions. This innovative model, built on the Stellantis STLA Large platform, boasts impressive acceleration, reaching 60 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.3 seconds.
Available in two variants, the electric 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona offers the 496-horsepower R/T and the 670-horsepower Scat Pack models. Both versions feature a 100.5-kWh traction battery pack, providing the R/T with a range of up to 315 miles (510 km) and the Scat Pack with up to 310 miles (500 km) of range. Equipped with all-wheel drive, both configurations of the Charger Daytona come with a simulated exhaust system that adjusts based on the selected mode and speed.
Dodge plans to launch production of the two-door muscle cars in the summer of 2024, with four-door versions slated for production next year. Manufacturing will take place at the Windsor plant in Ontario, Canada, with plans for a gasoline version of the model in the future.

Volvo Has Abandoned Diesel Engines
The Swedish automaker follows the green trend. The last Volvo XC90 crossover equipped with a diesel engine rolled off the assembly line at the plant in Sweden. This item will be exhibited at the World of Volvo museum in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Volvo abandoned the development of new diesel engines back in 2017, explaining that it was too expensive to adjust such engines to the required carbon dioxide emission standards. At the same time, the last car with a diesel car engine rolled off the assembly line only seven years later, at the end of March 2024.
Volvo was among the earliest brands to make this move. While Porsche dropped diesel engines in 2018 due to the Volkswagen diesel-emission scandal, Volvo’s decision was part of its development strategy focusing on electrification. Since then, Volvo’s lineup has consisted solely of hybrids and electric vehicles.

Hyundai to Recall the Elantra Cars
Hyundai Motor America has already announced the recall of about 186,000 Elantra 2015–2016 model cars due to their non-compliance with Federal Safety Standard No. 401. The reason is trunk latch shrinkage during high temperatures, which affects the manual opening mechanism.
The campaign applies to cars manufactured from December 26, 2014, to December 22, 2015. Most models were assembled at the brand’s factory in Alabama, with 51,500 vehicles imported directly from South Korea.
Car owners who have already incurred expenses for replacing the lock may expect financial compensation upon providing the relevant documentation to the dealership. The recalled vehicles will be equipped with new locks using materials that increase resistance to thermal deformation.

Suzuki Starts Production of Flying Cars
Flying cars from the Japanese companies Suzuki and SkyDrive will be presented for the first time at the Expo-2025 world exhibition in Osaka. The manufacturers have announced the production start of such vehicles. It’s planned that in a few years, they will join taxi fleets and be used to quickly deliver doctors to patients.
The company intends to open sales to individuals in 2026. The first flying car model from Suzuki will be the SKYDRIVE (SD-05), designed for three people, including the pilot. We can expect the maximum flight range to be 10 miles (15 km), and the vehicle will be powered by 12 electric motors. The manufacturers reported that the maximum speed of the vehicle will reach 60 mph (100 km/h).
The Best 2024 EV Was Revealed
At the New York Auto Show, the KIA EV9 electric crossover won both the Best Electric Car of the Year and Best World Car 2024 awards. Competing against models like the BYD Seal and Volvo EX30, the EV9’s victory is likely to boost KIA’s sales.
In another category, Volvo’s EX30 won the World Urban Car award, while the BMW i5/5-Series took home the World Luxury Car title. Additionally, the Toyota Prius was awarded Best Design of the Year, beating out competitors like the Ford Bronco and Ferrari Purosangue.
