Christian Luyindama has revealed that he was disappointed after moves to Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa collapsed.
The DR Congo international has been without a club since leaving Galatasaray last December and Fotospor state he was ‘recently preparing’ to make a switch to China.
He was a regular for Galatasaray in 2019 and his performances convinced Tottenham to make an offer.
The defender has revealed he was close to finalising a move to the Premier League, before the deal collapsed after he suffered a serious knee injury against Gambia in November 2019. Due to this, Luyindama claims he couldn’t fulfil his dream of moving to England.
“At that time, I had many offers, including from Tottenham and Aston Villa. I had to play that match against Gambia and then go back to Istanbul to finalise the details of the transfer. Unfortunately, I got a knee injury and my transfer didn’t happen. I couldn’t realise my dreams,” he said, as quoted by Fotospor.
The 30-year-old spent 239 days on the sidelines, before returning to the pitch at the start of the 2020/21 season.
A cruel twist of fate and the chance completely gone to sign for either Tottenham or Aston Villa, or move to the Premier League in general.
