Manchester United skipper Bruno Fernandes has been very complimentary towards two rival managers in Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp.
The Red Devils captain went as far as claiming that Guardiola, boss of United’s local rivals Manchester City, as the ‘best coach in the world’. The former Barcelona manager has an astonishing trophy haul over the cours of a career that has seen him occupy the hot seat at the Camp Nou, the Etihad and a stint at Bayern Munich wedged in between.
Just last term, Guardiola guided City to a historic treble – beating Fernandes’ United in the FA Cup final in the process. It marked the first time an English side had won the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League in a single season since United first accomplished the feat back in 1999.
“We are talking about the best coach in the world, without a shadow of a doubt,” United’s captain told A Bola. “In recent years, he has been the best coach in the world.

“He is probably the coach who most changed the game of football. Nowadays, everyone wants to be Guardiola, there’s no need to hide that. All teams, from the second to the first divisions, everyone tries to play like City and everyone tries to find the dynamics that City has, because they have results and success.
“For me, having praise from a coach like Guardiola is something spectacular, because, as I said, we are talking about a coach that I really appreciate and who, for me, today, is the best coach in the world.”
However, Guardiola wasn’t the only elite coach that was subject to praise from Fernandes. He also had some glowing words reserved for Liverpool boss Klopp.

“We are talking about a coach who is one of the ones I most appreciate, for the intensity he brings to games and the passion he has for football,” Fernandes added. “I think what he did now is yet another demonstration of how much he loves football.
‘He feels that, if he is not at his best, he is not giving his best to the game. And I think a little like that too, in the same way as him, probably. He is a coach who changed the dynamics of Liverpool, who brought hope to the club.”
Klopp is nearing the end of his reign as Reds boss after nine years at the helm, having confirmed this season will be his last in January. Fernandes’ United side dumped Liverpool out of the FA Cup just last weekend, ending Klopp’s hopes of bidding farewell with a four-trophy haul.
