Manchester United are waiting for Everton to set a price for Jarrad Branthwaite before kicking off their summer business.

The Red Devils are expected to be busy in the summer transfer window, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe targeting an overhaul of the playing squad at Old Trafford. A number of positions have been earmarked for additions. That includes at right-back and at striker. Another position that Ratcliffe wants to strengthen is at centre-back, with at least one central defender being targeted.

Everton star Branthwaite has already been identified as a prime target for the Red Devils, however Man United are biding their time. According to MailOnline, they are waiting for the Toffees to set a price for the 21-year-old.

Previous reports claimed that the Toffees wanted to receive around £75m for their star defender. Branthwaite is under contract at Goodison Park until 2027 having penned a new deal last October.

Speaking at the time, he said: “The stature of the club, how much of a family it is at Everton and how I just love playing here in front of the fans were key reasons for me signing. To sign this new contract was to show the commitment I have for the club and show how much it means to me to play for Everton.

“Since I joined, I’ve felt a connection with the club. The fans have been really good with me. For the first game I played, the cheer I got when my name was read out just gave me massive confidence to go out there and play my best game.

“Since I got in the team, the fans have shown me real support and that gives me confidence, especially for a young player. I can’t thank them enough.”

Elsewhere, Sean Dyche has already warned any interested clubs away from the defender. He said: “We don’t want to sell any good players. It’s as simple as that and he’s proven to be a very good player. We’re not in the business of trying to sell players.

“You only sell players if you have to sell players or there’s a problem. There’s no problem, therefore I’m just hoping we don’t need to sell players. At the minute, we certainly don’t so we will see.”

Away from Branthwaite, the Red Devils also have a couple of other defensive targets. Man United have also asked about how much it would take to sign Boca Juniors star Aaron Anselmino, 18, and Barcelona B youngster Mikayil Faye.
