Newcastle sources: Big update on Karius landing new deal – Footymercato.com

Newcastle United fringe goalkeeper Loris Karius is not set to land a new contract at the club, sources have told Football Insider.
The shot-stopper’s current agreement is set to expire in June.
He originally joined the club on a free transfer in 2022 and earned an extension last year (2023), but will be allowed to leave by the Magpies at the end of this term.
Karius has made just two appearances for Newcastle during his time at St James’ Park.
His bow for the club came in the League Cup final against Man United last year – which ended in a 2-0 victory for the Red Devils at Wembley.

The German was also on the losing side in his second appearance – a 4-1 demolition away at Arsenal last month.
He has occupied the bench as backup to Martin Dubravka this season after an injury to Nick Pope earlier on in the 2023-24 campaign.
Karius’ Liverpool contract only expired in June 2022 – months before he joined Newcastle as a free agent.
He is notorious in English football for two high-profile errors which saw the Reds lose the 2018 Champions League final against Real Madrid.
The former Man City youngster has also played for Mainz, Besiktas and Union Berlin.
Pope remains out injured after dislocating his shoulder in December, with Dubravka filling in between the sticks.
