One Day Wash And Flip: Taking A Crusty Square Body GMC K15 And Cleaning It Up For A Quick Profit

At one point or another, every car guy I know has seen a car or truck and said to himself “I could clean that thing up and flip it in a weekend and make me $1000”. And I’d say that 25% of the time that’s probably true, but the number of us that actually do that are few and far between. Tommy, the Hot Rod Hoarder, is not one of those folks that just thinks that. Nope, he’s the guy who is buying project vehicles and doing the cleanup in order to flip them in a hurry for money for his other projects. And he’s got his kids involved! Check out the video below and let us know what you think. Could you pull something off like this?

Video Description:

This 79 GMC K15 is rough, but the price was right for a quick project. These old square body trucks are my favorite thing to make a quick dollar on. Carlee and I went in halves on this one, using money we made from our previous project, which was a 1973 Honda 350 that had been parked for years. This time, we had no issues with the vehicle running but boy was it rough. This is what I’d classify as a “woods truck”. Very rough, very rusty, but the engine runs good! This one is somewhat unusual because it’s a short bed 4×4 truck. The 350 runs strong and the 4 speed manual transmission did its job, but everything else was in need of attention. The steering, brakes and tires are BAD.

We paid $800 for the truck, and I drove it home. The plan was to clean it up, spend as little money as possible and then re-sell it to make a few dollars. We spent one afternoon cleaning it, I posted the pictures to my Facebook page, and we had a buyer shortly thereafter. I wish they were all that easy, but maybe Carlee is my lucky charm when it comes to these quick flips. We also had an absolute blast taking this truck out on a local trail before we did the clean up.
