Rangers ready new Shankland bid after ‘record-breaking’ offer rejected – Footymercato.com

Rangers are plotting a sensational late bid for Heart ace Lawrence Shankland following Abdallah Sima’s long-term injury, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed that the Gers are once again trying to sign their long-term target following Sima’s fresh setback, which could keep him sidelined for up to three months.
Clement confirmed the devastating blow to the Brighton loanee, which was sustained while he was on duty with Senegal at the African Cup of Nations.
Sources told Football Insider (19 January) that Philippe Clement’s side are keeping close tabs on the Scotland international Shankland’s situation in Edinburgh, but a deal this month would be difficult to complete.
However, they are eager to replace Sima’s significant goal contributions and fast-track a move for Shankland this month.
Well-placed sources told Football Insider that Rangers will continue to monitor his situation at Tynecastle even if they don’t secure a deal for him before the window closes.
Sima has racked up 15 goals across 33 appearances in all competitions – the Gers’ top scorer this season.
Shankland is the Scottish top-flight’s leading goalscorer this season with 13 strikes and is currently yet to pen a new deal with the Edinburgh club.
He has 18 months remaining on his contract and has long been tipped with a move to the Glasgow giants.
Speaking to the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track Podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the talisman has been offered a “record-breaking deal” to stay at Tynecastle, but is yet to pen new terms.
Rangers are second in the league after their 3-0 win against Hibernian at Easter Road on Wednesday (24 January).
They are next due to face St Mirren in the league on Saturday afternoon (27 January).
