Rangers are not keen to loan Sam Lammers out again in the 2024-25 campaign despite comments from FC Utrecht boss Ron Jans, sources have told Football Insider.

Lammers, 26, is thriving at the Eredivisie side and has scored six goals in his last five games.

Speaking after his brace in a 3-2 win over Heerenveen on Sunday (7 April), Jans said: “I hope Sam stays with us next season too, maybe on loan again.”

“He knows if he wants to play every week and be appreciated he should stay here,” the Utrecht boss continued.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Rangers are not currently looking to loan the forward out again this summer.

Sources say the Ibrox club prefer a permanent sale and would accept an offer if their asking price is met.

Rangers set to block another Lammers loan after FC Utrecht boss speaks out

Lammers only signed for Rangers last summer (2023) during Michael Beale’s time at the helm but he was allowed to leave for the Netherlands on loan in one of Philippe Clement’s first acts in the transfer window.

The forward had only managed two goals and two assists in 31 appearances across all competitions for the Glasgow club.

He has since hit seven goals and notched three assists for Utrecht in just 13 appearances.

His contract at Rangers is set to run until May 2027.

The Ibrox club paid a reported £3.5million to sign 6ft 3in Lammers from Atalanta last summer (2023).
