Honduras have released an official statement confirming Celtic star Luis Palma will be out of the next international break after receiving information from Brendan Rodgers’ side on the player.

La Prensa cover the official statement from the Honduran FA today, which also details their conversations with Celtic and the work being done on the player’s injury.

They had been hoping to have Palma as a part of their squad for the upcoming clash with Costa Rica, but a recent injury picked up by the Celtic man had put that in jeopardy.

A report earlier today then claimed that Celtic were playing hard ball over their man, detailing that Brendan Rodgers’ side had refused to let him link up with the international group, insisting he was injured and unavailable.

He’s now officially been ruled out, with the Honduran FA reporting that he will be missing due to ‘medical incapacity’.

According to the information received by the FENAFUTH General Secretariat, Celtic’s medical department have indicated that an MRI scan was done on the player after he presented with discomfort in his right leg.

That confirmed the presence of a ‘low-grade muscle lesion in the proximal third of the right soleus’ and thus his inability to feature in this international break.

Honduras’ medical team have now deemed that the player will be out of action for three to four weeks, although that is their assessment and not Celtic’s.

Either way, he won’t be available for the next international break and will be remaining in Scotland to start his rehabilitation.
