World’s Worst 1957 Chevrolet: FREE MOTOR – Worst Motor Available For The Worst 1957 Chevy Ever? Why Does He Do This To Himself? – BangShift.com

[ad_1]

If you have been following this series you know that Dan tried to use a free Facebook Marketplace score, in this case an old 283, to power this nasty 1957 Chevrolet. Unfortunately engines don’t run without at least some compression. Not much, as a Flathead only has like 6:1 compression and runs fine, but it has to have some, and the 283 most certainly did not. So it was on to plan B, which in this case is a carbureted LS that he had lying around. Because he’s doing it on the cheap, it doesn’t want to fit and he’s having to make stuff, so it isn’t going to be as easy as one might think. Watch, laugh, and enjoy.

Video Description:

Last time we tried to put a mill in this ratty 1957 Chevy, we where let down big time. The FREE 283 off marketplace ended up having no compression and wouldn’t run.

So we had to move on to plan B. A bone stock, high mileage 5.3 Ls I had sitting on the garage floor. Carbureted of course…. Naturally it doesn’t fit and fights me the whole way in.
