Pedestrian struck and killed by vehicle on 101 in San Jose

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KRON) — A pedestrian on northbound Highway 101 in San Jose was struck and killed by a vehicle Thursday around 4 a.m., according to a CHP incident report. Severe delays are expected after all lanes reopened just after 6 a.m.
The fatal crash happened in the northbound lanes of Highway 101 south of Berryessa Road. A coroner was called to the scene at 4:29 a.m., the CHP log said.
The traffic backup is extending 5 miles from the incident location as of 6:15 a.m. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes and avoid the area.
