High-speed driving can put you into a lot of trouble and here is a video that shows exactly why. The incident was recorded on a CCTV camera. The incident in Maharashtra shows a Volkswagen Virtus flipping after a high-speed accident.
The CCTV footage shows the Volkswagen Virtus doing a decent speed. However, it seems like that the driver did not see the speed breaker hump. The driver lost control of the car after the Volkswagen Virtus passed over the speed breaker at a high speed. After the Virtus hit the divider at a high speed and lost control, it flipped over and rested on its roof.
The driver of the Volkswagen Virtus came out safe without any single injury. We are not sure why the driver of the car did not slow down. The speed breaker hump was quite big and was marked as well. It is quite possible that the driver of the car was not paying enough attention on the road.
For owners of luxury and sports cars, driving on the roads of Mumbai can be a daunting experience due to the unbearable potholes and massive speed breakers. Despite an increase in the number of luxury and sports car owners in India, the insufficient infrastructure to drive such vehicles remains a significant problem.
Moreover, speed breakers in India lack standardization, resulting in varying sizes as one travels across the country. Additionally, many speed breakers are unmarked, which poses a risk of severe accidents.
Volkswagen Virtus is a 5-star-rated car
The Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus, both built on the same platform, have become the first mid-size sedans to receive a 5-star rating under the updated test protocols of G-NCAP, which are more stringent than previous standards. However, it’s important to note that the Kushaq, Taigun, and Scorpio-N were the first three vehicles to achieve the 5-star rating under these new protocols.
Under these revised crash test protocols, Global NCAP evaluates the frontal and side impact protection of the test models. To receive a full five-star rating, a vehicle must also undergo assessments for features such as Electronic Stability Control (ESC), pedestrian protection, and side impact pole protection.
In the adult occupant protection tests, the Skoda and Volkswagen sedans scored 29.71 out of 34, which is only 0.07 points higher than their SUV counterparts. The protection offered to the head and neck of the driver and passenger was rated as good, but chest protection was deemed adequate.
In the side-impact test with a deformable barrier, both the Slavia and Virtus provided adequate protection to the occupants, scoring 14.2 out of 17. In the side pole impact tests, they received an ‘OK’ rating, although chest protection was found to be marginal.
According to GNCAP’s report, the bodyshell and footwell area of the sedans were stable and capable of withstanding further loadings. Additionally, the vehicles performed well in child occupant protection tests, receiving a 5-star rating with 42 points out of 49. The installation of the Child Restraint System (CRS) earned the cars a perfect 12 out of 12 points, and they scored a total of 24 points out of 24 in the dynamic score.
