Motorsports made a comeback to India after a brief period of absence. The MotoGP India, famously called MotoGP Bharat, got its share of fanfare and criticism from around the world. Spiritual leader Jaggi Vasudev, who is famously known as Sadhguru, came to MotoGP India and also rode his BMW K1600GT for the first lap around Buddha International Circuit (BIC).

Sadhguru went around the track on the inaugural lap of MotoGP India. Before the race, he was speaking to official MotoGP TV and said, “it has been a long while since he has been on a racetrack and it feels wonderful.” He later added, “MotoGP is a very exciting for India as the country is very youthful and a young population.” He praised MotoGP being held in India as more people follow two-wheelers rather than four-wheelers.

He then takes a lap around the circuit behind the BMW M MotoGP, which was the official safety car for MotoGP India. We can see him doing a slow lap behind the car. The spiritual leader was spotted in his touring gear which was not leather. Interestingly, around the world, most racetracks and associations do not allow riders on the track without prescribed gears which are one-piece or two-piece leather suits.

One of the heaviest bikes

The BMW is one of the most luxurious and heaviest motorcycles seen in his recent rides. The BMW K 1600 GT boasts an impressive weight of 350 kg. However, thanks to its front-weighted distribution, it delivers remarkable stability on long, straight highways, rendering it the ideal choice for extensive cross-country journeys. It’s worth noting that the BMW K 1600 GT was never officially introduced in India. Conversely, its more feature-rich counterpart, the K 1600 GTL, bore a price tag of Rs 30 lakh on the road. In the USA, the very bike Jaggi Vasudev is enjoying amounts to approximately Rs 17 lakh in Indian currency. Yet, importing it to India would more than double its cost due to associated taxes and duties.

It is equipped with a substantial 1.6-liter, 6-cylinder, in-line engine, capable of producing an impressive 160 PS of maximum power and 174 Nm of peak torque. The bike is equipped with features such as electric fuel injection with a ride-by-wire system, enabling it to achieve a top speed of over 200 km/h. Braking is managed by dual-floating disc brakes with four-piston fixed-position calipers in the front, and a single-disc brake in the rear.

Sadhguru is a passionate motorcycle enthusiast who has been riding since his youth. In an interview, he mentioned owning a Yamaha RD 350 during his college days, which he used to ride across India. He has previously embarked on a journey with Baba Ramdev aboard a Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled. His collection includes a BMW R1200 GS and various dirt bikes for his adventures around the world.
