Sounds of the Season is CBC Windsor’s annual holiday fundraiser in support of UHC- Hub of Opportunities. Join us as we raise money, donations — and awareness— for people facing hunger in our community.
Different events and locations are accepting non-perishable food donations throughout the month of December.
Here are places in the community where you can donate.
CBC Windsor
We are accepting donations in the lobby of the CBC building at 825 Riverside Drive West.
Mistletoe Market
Shop some unique artisan-made gifts and support local food banks at the same time. Urban Art Market is hosting the annual Mistletoe Market, featuring artisans with pottery, jewlery, knitwear, ornaments and woodwork. Find the market at the Water’s Edge Event Centre at 2879 Riverside Drive East this weekend, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Dec. 8 and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 9. The $3 admission charge will benefit CBC’s Sounds of the Season campaign to feed those in need.
Shine Hospitality
Shine Hospitality is supporting Sounds of the Season with two events this month.
On Friday, Dec. 8, check out a holiday movie night in Harrow at 62 King Street East. Doors open at 6 p.m. and admission is a non-perishable food item.
And on New Year’s Eve, Shine Hospitality is hosting a 90s themed party for adults. Tickets are $25 and include a midnight pizza buffet. Attendees are asked to bring a donation of food to support Sounds of the Season.
Willistead Manor
Willistead Manor’s annual holiday tours are a beloved local tradition, and they will be collecting food for Sounds of the Season. The coach house will be open to receive donations every Sunday afternoon and Wednesday evening during Willistead Manor tours, which run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays through Dec. 27.
Canadian Aviation Museum
Help hunger take flight at the Canadian Aviation Museum. The museum will stage its annual reading of Frederick Forsyth’s “The Shepherd” on Friday, Dec.15th with former CBC Host Tony Doucette and music by Karen Morand. Admission is a non-perishable food donation to benefit Sounds of the Season and Windsor-Essex food banks. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the reading begins at 7:30.
But if you can’t make the reading on Dec. 15, you can still drop off a donation during their opening hours until Dec. 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
Capitol Theatre
The Capitol Theatre calendar is bustling over the holidays with plenty of events to get you in the spirit. If you’re attending any of those shows, please bring a donation of non-perishable food — both the Windsor Symphony Orchestra and the Capitol Theatre are collecting for Sounds of the Season. Look for the big boxes around the Christmas tree to make your donation through Dec. 17.
Sounds of the Season is CBC Windsor’s annual fundraiser in support of the Windsor-Essex Food Bank Association. It’s also a chance to take a closer look at the reasons people in our city are in need, and the steps being taken to help them.
